Ever seen an amano give birth?

I was in the middle of a water change and this berried female became agitated. I noticed the fish going crazy around her and realized she was giving birth. Hundreds if not thousands of larvae filled the tank. I think the cooler new water might have t…
Observation

Hardness is creeping up

KH and GH are creeping up for some reason. I don’t know what could it be. There is nothing in the tank that could be leaking carbonates, calcium or magnesium. Evaporation top offs are being made with distilled water. GH could be a miscalculation when…
Update

Billy now ignores shrimp.

Billy now ignores the shrimp. He looks at them like something he knows won’t be able to catch, or that is not worth trying. I see shrimp grazing in the open more and more now.

Observation

Otocinclus out and about

These two are always hiding and rarely come out during the day. They wait for lights to go off during the siesta period or during the night. So seeing both of them out in the open looking healthy and grazing is always a treat.

Observation

Hunter

I added culled neocaridina shrimp to this tank in the hopes that they would help with organics and breed to provide live food for my apistogramma and tetras. The shrimp became nocturnal to avoid him and have successfully bred several times. After mon…
Update

Added pothos

Added one pothos cut to try and begin a pothos wall behind the aquarium.

Update

Added more botanicals.

Added almond leaves. Should keep an eye on magnolia pods, they seem to be breaking down already.

Observation

Baby shrimp

Found baby neocaridina shrimp grazing openly at night. I assume they switched to being nocturnal due to apistogramma harassment.

Observation

Fed broccoli

Added a broccoli for otos but the amanos kinda took it over.

Observation

Amano shrimp larvae born

Found amano shrimp larvae all over the tank while doing a night check.
