Observation

Bigger group, bigger confidence

After adding 8 extra habrosus and 5 extra pygmies, both groups have become a lot more comfortable at exploring and foraging in the open. They were very shy and hid most the time when their numbers were low, but now that their groups are bigger they h…
Solution

They’re okay

Cory habrosus are a very skittish species. Any sudden movement close the tank prompts them to hide very fast. During feeding time that stays the same. One tiny brawl between shrimps fighting for a single pellet (while surrounded by perfectly unclaime…
Update

Found the 6th

I was right. I saw all 6 pygmy corys today confirming that all fish are fine and healthy. They’re simply incredibly good at hiding.

Update

Outflow change

I switched the duckbill for a spray bar to improve water circulation.

Milestone

Eggs

Key moment

I believe this are pygmy cory eggs. They have been a little extra with their schooling behavior lately and now I know why.

Problem

BBA

BBA has spread to this tank as well. In both Shrimptopia and here it’s growing in high flow areas. I’m spot-treating with peroxide.

Solution

I found the fish

I saw all 5 cory habrosus today after a water change. I’m thinking the missing pygmy is probably around as well. They are very good at hiding.

Problem

Missing fish

It’s been more than a week since i could see all 5 cory habrosus. At this point I think one of them died and I didn’t see the body (or the shrimp swarm cleaned it up fast enough for me to miss it. Same with pygmy corys. I know they are good at hiding…
Observation

Maybe shrimp have to go

While feeding the tank i noticed the biggest habrosus female bucking and flashing. Upon closer inspection I realized she was freaking out over shrimplets swarming the food. When she approached the food the shrimplets would get spooked and land on top…
Milestone

Flowering bucephalandra

Key moment

Second time a bucephalandra blooms

Observation

Blue-razz mutation shrimp

I noticed a large number of red/orange babies. While trying to take a picture of one tiny orange baby, i noticed that some blue shrimp had red patches, and little by little I noticed more and more. There’s a good amount of blue-razz (or blue-red rili…
Update

Habrosus moved in

Moved 5 cory habrosus into the tank a month ago. They have acclimated very nicely and there seems to be no signs of barbell erosion (a recurring problem with this group). They are very skittish and have passed their nervousness over to the pygmy cory…

Update

All fish healthy

No medication was used. Only water quality control and everything seems to have corrected itself. All 6 corys are healthy and eating well.

Problem

Possible wasting disease

Two corys appear to be thinning out, and don’t forage or eat with the others. On started thinning out a week ago and the second one a couple of days ago. Because there is a second case I think it might be a parasitic disease. One cory died a week ago…
