Added magnolia leaves
Added 2 magnolia leaves to the tank for tannins. Will provide biofilm for shrimp and snails to graze on, and release tannins gradually over time.
Trim & reshape
New plants and big trim!
Did some really thorough trimming of stem plants and drastically thinned out Java fern. Added 2 Buce, and a Anubias Nana Pinto. Also too 4-5 cuttings of Anubias Nama Petite from main plant and spread around hardscape

Replaced carbon filters with crushed coral
Replaced both carbon filter inserts with mesh bags of crushed coral mixed with coral stones. Bags were small and coral pieces larger than expected, so couldn't fit a lot in each slot — but both slots now have crushed coral. Plenty of extra coral left…

Added cuttlebone
Added 1 piece of cuttlebone to the tank to supplement calcium for snails and shrimp, and to gently raise GH/KH over time.

Trim & reshape
Major trim
Did a major trim, especially have fern and all the grass runners that have taken over to try to give the more special plants lights and room to grow. Also made whole back wall the same stem plant

24 hours later, testing same glass of tap water: pH: 7.6 dGH: 20 dKH: 11

Testing tap water
Doing a ph, kh and gh test on tap water. First testing immediately out of the tap and then going to let water sit out for 24 hrs and test again tomorrow morning: pH: 7.4-7.6 High Range pH: 7.2-7.4 dGH: 19 dKH: 10

Added White Wizard Snail
Added 1 White Wizard Snail (Filopaludina martensi) to the tank. Species not yet in the Shoal & Stem database — added this note as a temporary record.

Added frogbit, flame sword, 2 lotus bulbs and 2 buce plants. I think disturbing the substrate caused the ammonia spike
