An old setup lay troubled until its inhabitants found new arrangement. The aquasoil, plants, and hardscape—all carrying their bacterial colonies—settled into fresh configuration within the 11.4-liter vessel, while the filter resumed its work and the mangrove's roots stretched healthy and growing in freshwater, patient and unrushed as only young mangroves can be.

Water cleared to transparency as the nitrogen cycle continued its invisible work beneath the surface. The small volume held surprising density—eleven liters of water pressed against glass with patient, relentless weight.

Water parameters have held steady for a week, and a thorough refresh brought fresh clarity to the mangrove tank. Six yellow cherry shrimp now drift through the plants—a couple already berried, promising the first generation of tiny shrimp to come.
