I tried this once before, but here we go again.
Good to meet you all! Id like to take a moment to introduce myself. I go by Finnz.
I am a beginner fishkeeper who did over a year of research on what I thought would be a simply planted betta tank before finally pulling the proverbial trigger and buying myself a 20 gallon tank. That being said, I have had my ups and downs, like figuring out zebra danios were not my thing, losing my betta unexpectedly to what I now know was a MelaFix poisoning, and losing assassin snails to starvation. Im still learning!
I found Shoal & Stem on accident, I was just looking for an app to log my maintenance and parameter metrics, and have tried out a couple of other programs. But Shoal & Stem seems to have been the one for me! Im excited to try the more social aspect of it as well, this forum seems like a great place to get information and ask for advice. I'm hoping to reach out and meet some like-minded individuals, as there are not enough fishkeeping people in my life, and I need someone to geek out over berried amanos with me!
At present I have a 20 gallon planted, with a breeding pair of sparkling gourami, 12 strawberry rasbora, 5 amano shrimp, and maybe 6 but also maybe 0 otocinclus (iykyk!). And, accidentally, way too many accursed bladder snails! I also have a separate 1 gallon bladder snail culture tank, which was intended for feeders for the assassin snails I no longer have. Hopefully I can get a couple assassins at my LFS in the next few weeks, and they can eat down my bladder snail population.
I also have a 10 gallon African biotope planned, awaiting setup as I rehab an African Dwarf Frog that was surrendered by a local guy getting out of the hobby! Frog was a little skinny at first, but has been with me for a week in my 5 gallon hospital tank, and is eating well and very active.
Please don't be afraid to chat either here or on any of the other threads I started up, I would love to meet people passionate about literally anything to do with tanks. You want to math out parameter calibration? Lets go! Geek out about stocking possibilities? I'm your gal! Dream up our ideal scape? On it!
