Any tips on not spending a fortune on hardscape/supplies?

I would love to do a rescape on my tank, but all the supplies is just so expensive! I look at dragon stone and it’s 30 bucks for one peice! Is that normal? Anyways, does anyone have any tips on getting good supplies(and even livestock+plants) for a good price? Am I just being cheap?
