Common Diseases

Nutrient Deficiency

Symptoms

Yellowing leaves, stunted growth, pale coloration, loss of red pigmentation in new growth

Treatment

Increase fertilizer dosing frequency; test water parameters and supplement macronutrients (N-P-K) and micronutrients (iron, boron, manganese) as needed

Algae Overgrowth on Leaves

Symptoms

Green or brown algae coating leaf surfaces, reduced photosynthesis, plant decline

Treatment

Reduce photoperiod to 8-10 hours daily, increase water changes, add algae-eating shrimp or fish, improve water circulation

Melting (Tissue Decay)

Symptoms

Leaves becoming translucent, mushy stems, rapid deterioration of new growth

Treatment

Improve water quality with frequent water changes; ensure adequate CO2 and lighting; check for ammonia/nitrite spikes; may recover if conditions improve quickly

Poor Coloration

Symptoms

Leaves remaining olive-green without red tones, dull appearance despite adequate light

Treatment

Increase light intensity (medium-high to high), boost iron and trace element supplementation, ensure stable pH and temperature
