Care Guide

Diet

Green Gold Corydoras are omnivorous bottom feeders that consume sinking pellets, algae wafers, and small live foods such as bloodworms and brine shrimp. Feed small amounts once or twice daily, ensuring food reaches the substrate where they forage. They will also consume leftover food and algae, contributing to tank cleanliness.

Behavior

These corydoras are active bottom dwellers that spend most of their time foraging along the substrate using their barbels to search for food. They are social and peaceful, preferring to be kept in groups of at least 4 individuals where they exhibit natural schooling behavior. They are nocturnal to crepuscular and are most active during dawn and dusk hours.

Breeding

Breeding Green Gold Corydoras in captivity is moderately difficult and requires specific conditions including cooler water temperatures (around 20-22°C/68-72°F) and increased feeding with high-quality foods. Males will chase females in a characteristic T-position spawning behavior, and eggs are typically laid on plants or tank surfaces. Fry are small and require infusoria or liquid fry food initially.

Frayed or deteriorating fins, discoloration at fin edges, lethargy

Treatment

Improve water quality through frequent water changes, reduce ammonia and nitrite, use antibacterial medication, maintain optimal water parameters

Barbel Erosion

Symptoms

Shortened or missing barbels, difficulty foraging, behavioral changes

Treatment

Improve substrate quality by using smooth sand or fine gravel, maintain excellent water quality, ensure adequate nutrition with varied diet

Columnaris (Flexibacter columnaris)

Symptoms

White or gray film on body, mouth rot, fin deterioration, loss of appetite
