Common Diseases

Nutrient Deficiency

Symptoms

Pale or yellowing leaves, stunted growth, loss of red coloration, thin stems

Treatment

Increase fertilizer dosing with all-in-one liquid fertilizers or add root tabs; ensure adequate lighting to support photosynthesis

Algae Overgrowth

Symptoms

Green or brown algae coating plant surfaces, reduced light penetration, plant decline

Treatment

Reduce lighting duration to 8-10 hours daily, perform regular water changes, introduce algae-eating fish or shrimp, improve water circulation

Melting

Symptoms

Leaves becoming translucent, mushy stems, rapid tissue breakdown after planting

Treatment

Ensure gradual acclimation to new tank conditions; maintain stable water parameters (pH 6.0-7.5, temperature 23-28°C); improve water circulation and avoid burying stems too deeply

Slow Growth

Symptoms

Minimal new leaf development, pale coloration, plant appearing stalled

Treatment

Increase lighting intensity to medium-high; boost fertilization with macronutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) and micronutrients; ensure CO2 supplementation is optional but beneficial
