Common Diseases

Nutrient Deficiency (Iron/Macronutrient)

Symptoms

Yellowing or pale leaves, stunted growth, loss of red coloration, interveinal chlorosis

Treatment

Increase fertilizer dosing frequency; add comprehensive all-in-one fertilizer and iron supplements; ensure adequate lighting and CO2

Algae Overgrowth on Leaves

Symptoms

Green or brown algae coating leaf surfaces, reduced light penetration, plant appears dull

Treatment

Increase water changes (30-50% weekly), reduce photoperiod to 8-10 hours daily, add algae-eating shrimp or fish, manually remove affected leaves

Melting (Tissue Decay)

Symptoms

Leaves become translucent and mushy, stems soften, plant collapses

Treatment

Improve water quality with frequent water changes; ensure stable temperature (23-28°C); increase CO2 and lighting gradually; remove severely affected stems

Slow Growth or Stunting

Symptoms

Minimal new leaf development, weak stems, pale coloration despite adequate lighting

Treatment

Verify CO2 injection is active; increase fertilizer dosing; check water parameters (pH 6.0-7.0 ideal); ensure substrate contains nutrients or use root tabs
