Anubias Stardust
Anubias Stardust
📍 Southeast Asia
Anubias Stardust is a compact, slow-growing rhizome plant featuring distinctive white or cream-colored speckles and spots across deep green leaves, creating a striking starry appearance. This cultivar maintains a small to medium size, making it ideal for aquascaping in foreground to midground positions. Its unique variegation and hardy nature make it a popular choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists.
Tank Mates
Peaceful algae eater; will not damage or uproot the plant
Non-destructive; adds bioload control without harming delicate leaves
Gentle algae grazer that respects plants and provides tank maintenance
Small, peaceful schooling fish that won't nibble or uproot the plant
Calm temperament; pairs well with low-light planted setups
Complementary epiphyte plant with similar care requirements and aesthetic appeal
Common Diseases
Rhizome Rot
Soft, mushy rhizome; blackening at attachment point; leaves detaching or yellowing rapidly
Remove plant immediately; trim away rotted portions with sterile scissors; allow to air dry briefly; reattach to hardscape above substrate; ensure water circulation and avoid burying rhizome
Algae Overgrowth on Leaves
Green, brown, or black algae coating leaf surfaces; reduced light penetration; spotted or fuzzy appearance
Increase water flow; reduce lighting duration; manually remove algae with soft brush; add algae-eating shrimp (Amano or Red Cherry); maintain nutrient balance to prevent excess algae
Leaf Yellowing / Nutrient Deficiency
Older leaves turn yellow or pale; new growth appears weak or stunted; loss of variegation intensity
Perform partial water changes; add all-in-one fertilizer (e.g., Thrive, EasyLife) at recommended dose; ensure adequate bioload from fish waste; check for iron deficiency and supplement if needed
Melting on Transition
Leaves become translucent, mushy, or dissolve shortly after planting; rapid leaf loss
Maintain stable water parameters (pH, temperature, hardness); avoid drastic changes in lighting or CO2; allow acclimation period of 2–3 weeks; trim damaged leaves and allow new growth to emerge
