Cryptocoryne Walkeri
Cryptocoryne walkeri
📍 Sri Lanka
Cryptocoryne walkeri is a compact, slow-growing crypt with narrow, lance-shaped green leaves that form dense rosettes. It is one of the smallest Cryptocoryne species, making it ideal for foreground placement in smaller aquariums. This hardy plant is undemanding and tolerates a wide range of water conditions, making it excellent for beginners.
Tank Mates
Non-destructive, will not uproot or damage delicate leaves
Peaceful scavengers that complement foreground plants well
Small algae eaters that do not disturb substrate or plant roots
Tiny, peaceful fish that inhabit mid-water and do not uproot plants
Common Diseases
Crypt Melt
Leaves turn translucent, mushy, and dissolve; plant appears to rot from the base
Reduce water changes temporarily, maintain stable water parameters, ensure good water circulation; plant typically recovers and regrows within weeks
Iron Deficiency
Yellowing of new leaves while veins remain green; stunted growth
Dose with liquid iron fertilizer or all-in-one fertilizer; ensure adequate lighting to support nutrient uptake
Algae on Leaves
Green or brown algae coating leaf surfaces, reducing photosynthesis
Manually remove algae with soft brush; reduce lighting duration; increase water circulation; add algae-eating shrimp or fish
Rhizome Rot
Base of plant becomes soft and blackened; leaves detach easily
Remove affected portions with clean scissors; improve water circulation and reduce organic waste; avoid burying rhizome too deeply in substrate
