Common Diseases

Nutrient Deficiency

Symptoms

Yellowing leaves, stunted growth, pale coloration, leaf holes or transparent patches

Treatment

Increase fertilizer dosing, add liquid all-in-one fertilizers, consider root tabs, and ensure adequate CO2 and lighting

Algae Overgrowth

Symptoms

Green or brown algae coating on leaves, reduced light penetration, plant growth slowing

Treatment

Reduce lighting duration to 8-10 hours daily, increase water changes, add algae-eating shrimp or fish, and improve water circulation

Melting

Symptoms

Leaves becoming translucent, mushy stems, rapid tissue breakdown after planting

Treatment

Ensure gradual acclimation if transitioning from emersed to submerged, maintain stable water parameters, and increase CO2 and nutrient levels

Bacterial Leaf Spot

Symptoms

Brown or black spots on leaves, leaf deterioration, affected areas spreading

Treatment

Remove affected leaves, improve water quality with frequent changes, increase aeration, and avoid overcrowding plants
