Floating-leaf Aponogeton with oval lily pad-like surface leaves. Submerged leaves are narrow and translucent. Easy bulb plant.

Common Diseases

Nutrient Deficiency

Symptoms

Yellowing leaves, stunted growth, pale coloration, leaf holes or transparent patches

Treatment

Increase fertilizer dosing with all-in-one liquid fertilizers or macronutrient supplements; ensure adequate iron for micronutrient deficiency; test water parameters and adjust lighting if needed

Algae Overgrowth on Leaves

Symptoms

Green, brown, or black algae coating leaf surfaces; reduced light penetration to plant tissue

Treatment

Increase water changes, reduce lighting duration to 8-10 hours daily, add algae-eating fish or shrimp, manually remove affected leaves if severe

Bulb Rot

Symptoms

Soft, mushy bulb tissue; foul odor; leaf yellowing and decay; plant fails to produce new growth

Treatment

Remove affected bulb immediately, improve water circulation and reduce organic waste buildup, ensure substrate is not compacted; replant healthy bulb in fresh substrate if salvageable

Poor Growth or Melting

Symptoms

Leaves dissolving or becoming translucent; slow or no new leaf production; plant appears stressed

Treatment

Verify water parameters (pH 6.0-7.5 optimal), increase water change frequency, boost CO2 if available, ensure adequate lighting (medium intensity), and confirm fertilizer dosing is appropriate
