This species is suitable for community tanks and displays fascinating parental care behaviors. They are moderately sized bettas with subtle coloration and require stable water conditions to thrive.
Care Guide
Diet
Feed small live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms 2-3 times daily. Supplement with high-quality carnivorous pellets. Juveniles require more frequent feeding than adults. Ensure food is appropriately sized for their small mouths.
Behavior
Betta foerschi are peaceful and social, often displaying interesting schooling behavior with conspecifics in larger tanks. Males exhibit less aggression than other betta species and can sometimes be kept together. They are active swimmers and prefer tanks with gentle water flow and plenty of plants for security.
Breeding
Mouth-brooding species that exhibit complex parental care behaviors. Breeding requires stable water conditions and conditioning with live foods. Males incubate eggs and fry in their mouths, releasing them after 10-14 days. Breeding difficulty is moderate to high.
