Grown emersed like pothos with its roots in the tank water, slowly taking up nitrate as a biofilter. Tolerates low-to-medium light; roots reliably with foliage kept above the surface.
Grown with its roots in the tank water and its leaves in the air — a living nitrate filter, not a submerged aquarium plant. Give it bright indirect light; no aquarium CO₂ or substrate needed.
Toxic if eaten — an aroid with insoluble calcium oxalate crystals; keep the foliage away from plant-grazing fish, submerged roots are fine.
