Cryptocoryne Nevesii
Cryptocoryne nevesii
Plantae›Tracheophyta›Magnoliopsida›Araceae
📍 Borneo
A small, compact Cryptocoryne with narrow, lance-shaped leaves of uniform mid-green. One of the more underrated compact Crypts, it stays small and spreads slowly via runners to form neat clusters. A good foreground alternative where HC Cuba or Monte Carlo would require CO2.
Tank Mates
Peaceful algae grazers that won't damage delicate foliage
Gentle invertebrates that help control algae without harming plants
Small, peaceful fish that won't uproot or damage slow-growing plants
Compatible foreground plant with similar low-light tolerance
Companion plant with similar hardiness and low-light requirements
Larger shrimp that may occasionally disturb runners but generally safe
Common Diseases
Cryptocoryne Rot
Leaves turn translucent, mushy stems, foul odor from substrate, rapid plant deterioration
Remove affected leaves, improve water circulation, reduce organic buildup, perform partial water changes, ensure substrate is not compacted
Nutrient Deficiency
Pale or yellowing leaves, stunted growth, leaf holes or necrotic spots
Add comprehensive liquid fertilizer containing macronutrients and micronutrients; increase lighting if possible; ensure adequate water flow
Algae Overgrowth
Green or brown algae coating leaves and stems, reduced light penetration
Reduce lighting duration to 6-8 hours daily, increase water changes, add algae-eating fish or shrimp, manually remove excess algae
Melting
Sudden leaf loss and transparent, dissolving foliage after planting or water parameter changes
Maintain stable water parameters (pH 6.0-7.5, temperature 22-28°C), avoid drastic changes, trim damaged leaves, allow plant time to acclimate
