Common Diseases

Nutrient Deficiency

Symptoms

Pale or yellowing leaves, stunted growth, loss of red coloration

Treatment

Increase fertilizer dosing, ensure adequate CO2 injection, and verify macro/micronutrient balance

Algae Overgrowth

Symptoms

Green or brown algae coating stems and leaves, reduced light penetration

Treatment

Reduce lighting duration to 8-10 hours daily, increase water changes, add algae-eating shrimp or fish, and improve water circulation

Melting

Symptoms

Leaves becoming translucent, stems turning mushy, rapid plant deterioration

Treatment

Improve water parameters (check pH and hardness), increase water circulation, reduce temperature if elevated, and remove affected portions

Bacterial Infection

Symptoms

Black spots on stems, rotting leaf bases, foul odor from substrate

Treatment

Perform 50% water change, remove affected plant portions, improve tank hygiene, and ensure adequate water flow
