Water Change, Gill Recovery, and Poop Report

A lot going on this week! It was an unusually messy week with two poops collected and a sizable dead beetle trapped on the filter sponge. I'm guessing the extra organics were to blame for detectable a

Plant updates and hair algae

Just wanted to add these photos really quick. This tank looks really nice right now but there’s some definite hair/filamentous algae issues going on down in front of the tank. From the placement I am

Billy now ignores shrimp.

Billy now ignores the shrimp. He looks at them like something he knows won’t be able to catch, or that is not worth trying. I see shrimp grazing in the open more and more now.

So this is what’s happening with my little friend Viktoria. The wound on her side is fully healed now, you cannot even tell it was ever there. Medication has been fully discontinued for about a week n

Co2 results.

Man, the plants have absolutely exploded in growth since I introduced the c02 system. I actually didn’t notice how much until I started looking at pictures of a couple weeks ago. The growth rate has b

Lil’ Wild Bill’s first molt!

I’m so proud 🥹🥹🥹 lil wild bill had his first molt, in a hospital tank while the 10 gallon is being tested for planaria none the less! He will be out back in there tomorrow

After weekly maintenance

Outflow change

I switched the duckbill for a spray bar to improve water circulation.

Poop Status

Not much to report, just noting the weekly water change along with another healthy poop scoop. Pep isn't spitting now that I'm cutting the worms. This makes the quantity and frequency of his meals muc

I’ve done the unthinkable

The ludgwigia was getting out of hand. It was finally time for what I call a ‘brutal trim’. I was tired of trying to find the fishes hiding behind all the foliage so I tried to make more space. Now th

Frogbit thriving!

My Amazon Frogbit is doing fantastic! There is so much, and I’m not getting many orders on EBay, so I’m going to have to throw some out (better too much than too little). That’s ok by me! I’m just hap

Better still.

This is not a good quality picture but I was trying to capture the wound on her side. See the little red spot right by her head? That’s it. It looks like a color spot but it’s not, it has depth to it.

Co2!

Everything is going pretty well here still. The new lighting has caused me to want to introduce c02 as well, so here we go. Just added today. Starting very slowly due to newness of the tank.

Shocker!

After all my shrimp die, I find a tiny baby shrimp chilling in my tank! Why didn’t anyone tell me that fish keeping is an emotional rollercoaster? Well, I was very surprised to see this little guy. I
