Common Diseases

Crypt Rot

Symptoms

Leaves turn translucent, mushy stems, rapid leaf loss, foul odor from substrate

Treatment

Improve water circulation, reduce organic buildup, perform partial water changes, remove affected leaves, ensure adequate potassium and micronutrients

Nutrient Deficiency

Symptoms

Pale or yellowing leaves, stunted growth, leaf holes or necrosis

Treatment

Add comprehensive liquid fertilizer or root tabs, increase water change frequency, verify lighting is adequate, test and adjust pH toward acidic range

Algae Overgrowth

Symptoms

Green or brown algae coating leaves, reduced light penetration

Treatment

Reduce lighting duration to 6-8 hours daily, increase water changes, add algae-eating fish like Otocinclus, manually remove affected leaves

Treatment

This is normal acclimation; maintain stable parameters, avoid drastic changes, ensure adequate fertilization, be patient as new leaves emerge adapted to aquarium conditions
