Eriocaulon King Crimson
Eriocaulon sp. 'King Crimson'
Plantae›Tracheophyta›Magnoliopsida›Poales›Eriocaulaceae
📍 Southeast Asia
Deep red Eriocaulon rosette with needle-fine leaves. One of the reddest Eriocaulon varieties. Extremely demanding — needs very soft, acidic water.
Tank Mates
Gentle shrimp that won't damage delicate leaves and help maintain water quality
Peaceful algae eaters that won't harm the plant and thrive in soft, acidic water
Small, peaceful fish that prefer soft water and won't uproot or damage the plant
Hardy companion plant with similar water parameter requirements and midground placement
Excellent plant companion with identical demands for soft, acidic water and high lighting
Thrives in soft, acidic conditions and won't damage delicate foliage
Common Diseases
Nutrient Deficiency
Yellowing leaves, stunted growth, loss of red coloration, pale new growth
Increase liquid fertilizer dosing, ensure adequate macro and micronutrient supplementation, test water parameters and adjust CO2 if needed
Algae Overgrowth
Green or brown algae coating leaves, reduced light penetration, plant appears smothered
Reduce lighting duration, increase water changes, add algae-eating shrimp, manually remove algae, improve water flow
Melting/Tissue Necrosis
Leaves become translucent, mushy, or dissolve; plant appears to rot from center outward
Improve water quality with frequent changes, ensure stable pH (5.5-6.5) and soft water, reduce temperature slightly, remove affected leaves
Poor Growth/Stagnation
Minimal new leaf development, plant remains same size for weeks, leaves appear dull
Verify CO2 injection is adequate (30-40 ppm), increase lighting intensity, boost fertilization, ensure water parameters are optimal
