Common Diseases

Nutrient Deficiency

Symptoms

Yellowing leaves, stunted growth, loss of red coloration, pale new growth

Treatment

Increase liquid fertilizer dosing, ensure adequate macro and micronutrient supplementation, test water parameters and adjust CO2 if needed

Algae Overgrowth

Symptoms

Green or brown algae coating leaves, reduced light penetration, plant appears smothered

Treatment

Reduce lighting duration, increase water changes, add algae-eating shrimp, manually remove algae, improve water flow

Melting/Tissue Necrosis

Symptoms

Leaves become translucent, mushy, or dissolve; plant appears to rot from center outward

Treatment

Improve water quality with frequent changes, ensure stable pH (5.5-6.5) and soft water, reduce temperature slightly, remove affected leaves

Poor Growth/Stagnation

Symptoms

Minimal new leaf development, plant remains same size for weeks, leaves appear dull

Treatment

Verify CO2 injection is adequate (30-40 ppm), increase lighting intensity, boost fertilization, ensure water parameters are optimal
