Variety of Hygrophila lancea · taiwan

📍 Cultivar (Taiwan)

Ask Finn

A Taiwanese-bred cultivar with slightly broader leaves than the Araguaia form and notably more vivid red-pink coloration. Stays compact and dense with regular trimming and responds well to high light and CO2 by turning a deep wine-red. A sought-after plant in the ADA-style planted tank community.

Common Diseases

Nutrient Deficiency (Nitrogen/Iron)

Symptoms

Yellowing of new leaves, stunted growth, pale coloration despite adequate light

Treatment

Increase fertilizer dosing with all-in-one or macronutrient supplements; ensure CO2 is present; check water parameters

Algae Overgrowth (Green Spot/Black Beard)

Symptoms

Green or black algae coating on leaves, reduced plant vigor, poor coloration

Treatment

Reduce light duration to 8-10 hours daily, increase water change frequency, add algae-eating fauna (Amano shrimp, Otocinclus), ensure adequate CO2

Melting (Leaf Decay)

Symptoms

Rapid leaf deterioration, mushy stems, translucent appearance of affected tissue

Treatment

Improve water quality with frequent partial water changes; ensure stable temperature (22-28°C); increase CO2 and light gradually; trim affected portions

Slow Growth/Poor Coloration

Symptoms

Weak stem development, pale pink instead of deep red coloration, minimal new leaf production

Treatment

Increase light intensity to medium-high (8-10 hours daily), boost CO2 injection, enhance fertilization, verify temperature is within optimal range
