Ricordea Yuma
Ricordea yuma
Animalia›Cnidaria›Anthozoa›Ricordeidae
📍 Indo-Pacific reefs
The Indo-Pacific cousin of Ricordea florida — single-polyp mushroom with vivid nodular texture. Some of the most wildly colourful colourations in the hobby: electric blue, neon orange, purple, and multicolour. Highly collectible.
Tank Mates
Peaceful reef fish that won't disturb corals and thrive in similar low-flow conditions
Non-aggressive invertebrates that help maintain water quality without bothering mushroom corals
Small, peaceful fish that stay near rockwork and won't damage delicate coral polyps
Nocturnal, peaceful fish that occupy different zones and won't compete with corals
Can be kept together but maintain spacing to prevent stinging; both are mushroom corals with similar care
Common Diseases
Coral Bleaching
Loss of color, polyps appear white or pale, reduced feeding response
Improve lighting quality, check water parameters (salinity, temperature, nutrients), reduce stress, ensure adequate water flow
Brown Jelly Disease
Brown slime coating polyps, rapid tissue recession, polyp retraction
Isolate affected coral, perform 25% water changes, improve water quality, remove affected tissue if possible, consider antibiotic dips
Polyp Recession
Polyps fail to extend, gradual shrinking of coral tissue, base exposure
Review lighting and flow conditions, test water parameters, reduce feeding frequency, ensure stable temperature, check for allelopathic corals nearby
Pest Infestation (Nudibranchs/Flatworms)
Small organisms visible on coral, tissue damage, polyp damage
Manual removal with tweezers, dip coral in freshwater or medicated solution, quarantine affected coral, monitor tank for spread
