Narrowleaf Temple Plant

Hygrophila corymbosa

PlantaeTracheophytaMagnoliopsidaAcanthaceae

Variety of Hygrophila Corymbosa · angustifolia

📍 Southeast Asia

Ask Finn

Narrow, willowy leaves give this variant a graceful, feathery appearance unlike its broad-leafed relatives. Great for creating visual contrast alongside wider-leaved plants. Just as hardy as the parent species.

Common Diseases

Nutrient Deficiency

Symptoms

Yellowing leaves, stunted growth, pale coloration, particularly affecting older leaves first

Treatment

Increase fertilizer dosing with all-in-one liquid fertilizers or add root tabs; ensure adequate macronutrients and iron supplementation

Algae Overgrowth

Symptoms

Green or brown algae coating on leaves, reduced light penetration, plant growth slowing

Treatment

Reduce lighting duration to 8-10 hours daily, increase water changes, add algae-eating shrimp or fish, and manually remove affected leaves

Melting

Symptoms

Leaves becoming translucent, mushy stems, rapid tissue breakdown after planting

Treatment

Ensure stable water parameters (pH 6.0-8.0, temperature 22-28°C), improve water circulation, and allow acclimation period; trim damaged portions and replant healthy stems

Root Rot

Symptoms

Blackened or mushy roots, foul odor from substrate, poor growth despite good lighting

Treatment

Improve substrate drainage, increase water circulation, reduce organic waste buildup, and consider replanting in fresh substrate with root tabs
