Care Guide

Diet

Magenta Mystery Snails are omnivorous and primarily herbivorous, feeding on algae, decaying plant matter, and soft vegetables. Supplement their diet 2-3 times weekly with blanched spinach, zucchini, or cucumber slices. Provide high-quality sinking pellets or algae wafers to ensure adequate nutrition and calcium intake for shell health.

Behavior

These snails are nocturnal and spend most of the day hidden, becoming active during evening and night hours. They are peaceful, slow-moving detritivores that help maintain tank cleanliness by consuming algae and decaying organic matter. Magenta Mystery Snails are solitary but can coexist with other snail species without aggression.

Breeding

Breeding Pomacea bridgesii in captivity is difficult and rarely successful in home aquariums. Females lay eggs above the waterline in clutches, but most eggs fail to develop without specific environmental triggers and humidity conditions. Successful breeding requires patience, ideal water parameters, and often occurs unexpectedly rather than through deliberate conditioning.
