Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Flamingo'

Variety of Cryptocoryne Wendtii · flamingo
📍 Sri Lanka (cultivar)
Cryptocoryne Flamingo is an eye-catching cultivar with pale pink to deep rose-pink leaves that maintain their colour even in moderate light. A relatively recent cultivar, it adds pastel colour contrast rarely seen in aquatic plants. Hardy and slow-growing like other Cryptocorynes, making it easy to use as a focal foreground or midground accent.
Tank Mates
Peaceful algae grazers that won't uproot or damage delicate plant leaves
Small, non-destructive shrimp that help control algae and won't disturb the plant
Complementary foreground plant with similar care requirements and growth rate
Peaceful nano fish that occupy mid-water column and won't uproot plants
Hardy companion plant with similar low-light tolerance and slow growth
Gentle cichlid that may occasionally dig but generally compatible with established plants
Common Diseases
Cryptocoryne Rot
Leaves turn translucent, mushy stems, foul odor from substrate, plant deterioration
Remove affected leaves, improve water circulation, reduce substrate organic buildup, perform 30% water change, ensure adequate lighting and avoid stagnant conditions
Nutrient Deficiency
Pale or yellowing leaves, stunted growth, loss of pink coloration, leaf holes
Dose all-in-one liquid fertilizer weekly, add macronutrient supplements (nitrogen, potassium), increase lighting, consider adding root tabs to substrate
Algae Overgrowth
Green or brown algae coating leaves, reduced light penetration, plant appears smothered
Manually remove algae, reduce lighting duration to 8-10 hours daily, increase water changes, add algae-eating fish or shrimp, avoid excess nutrients
Melting
Rapid leaf dissolution, transparent patches, plant appears to dissolve
Maintain stable water parameters (pH 6.0-7.5, temperature 22-28°C), improve water circulation, ensure adequate lighting, dose fertilizers, be patient as plant may recover
