Variety of Cryptocoryne Wendtii · green
📍 Sri Lanka
The green form of Cryptocoryne wendtii has smooth, bright green leaves with a subtle hammered texture. It is one of the most adaptable crypts available, tolerating a wide range of light, water, and substrate conditions. An excellent beginner midground plant.
Tank Mates
Peaceful algae grazers that won't uproot or damage plant leaves
Gentle foragers that maintain tank cleanliness without harming plants
Small, peaceful fish that create minimal disturbance to planted substrate
Companion plant with similar low-light tolerance and slow growth rate
Compatible foreground plant that shares similar water parameter requirements
Peaceful mid-water swimmers that rarely disturb rooted plants
Common Diseases
Cryptocoryne Rot
Rapid melting of leaves, blackening of stems, foul odor from substrate
Remove affected portions, improve water circulation, reduce organic buildup, perform 25-30% water changes, ensure adequate substrate nutrients
Nutrient Deficiency
Yellowing leaves, stunted growth, pale coloration, holes in older leaves
Dose all-in-one fertilizer or macronutrient supplements weekly; test water for NPK levels; ensure substrate contains root tabs or nutrient-rich material
Algae Overgrowth
Green or brown algae coating leaves, reduced photosynthesis, plant decline
Reduce light duration to 6-8 hours daily, increase water changes, add algae-eating fish or shrimp, remove heavily affected leaves manually
Leaf Spot Disease
Brown or black spots on leaves, gradual leaf deterioration
Remove affected leaves, improve water quality with frequent changes, reduce organic waste, ensure adequate water circulation and light
