The green form of Cryptocoryne wendtii has smooth, bright green leaves with a subtle hammered texture. It is one of the most adaptable crypts available, tolerating a wide range of light, water, and substrate conditions. An excellent beginner midground plant.

Common Diseases

Cryptocoryne Rot

Symptoms

Rapid melting of leaves, blackening of stems, foul odor from substrate

Treatment

Remove affected portions, improve water circulation, reduce organic buildup, perform 25-30% water changes, ensure adequate substrate nutrients

Nutrient Deficiency

Symptoms

Yellowing leaves, stunted growth, pale coloration, holes in older leaves

Treatment

Dose all-in-one fertilizer or macronutrient supplements weekly; test water for NPK levels; ensure substrate contains root tabs or nutrient-rich material

Algae Overgrowth

Symptoms

Green or brown algae coating leaves, reduced photosynthesis, plant decline

Treatment

Reduce light duration to 6-8 hours daily, increase water changes, add algae-eating fish or shrimp, remove heavily affected leaves manually
